EAST POINT LODGE #288 F&AM: Empowering Communities

A Brief History of East Point Lodge #288

East Point Lodge No. 288 traces its roots to the growth and development of the City of East Point, Georgia, a community established during the expansion of the railroads south of Atlanta in the late nineteenth century. As the city matured into a thriving residential and commercial center, local Masons sought to establish a lodge that would serve the needs of the brethren and provide a lasting presence for Freemasonry within the community.

Chartered under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Georgia, Free and Accepted Masons, East Point Lodge No. 288 became an active participant in both Masonic and civic life. Throughout its history, the lodge has been dedicated to the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth, providing fellowship, charitable support, and moral instruction to generations of Georgia Masons.

The lodge's influence extended beyond its own membership. East Point Lodge earned statewide recognition within Georgia Masonry, including being awarded the Grand Master's Cup on multiple occasions, a distinction recognizing outstanding lodge achievement and service. Records of the Grand Lodge of Georgia show East Point Lodge No. 288 receiving this honor in 1968, again in 1985 and most recently in 2010, reflecting the commitment and dedication of its members. Additionally, the lodge has been represented at the highest levels of Georgia Masonry, with Past Grand Master C. E. "Buster" Horne being identified with East Point Lodge No. 288 during his service to the Craft.

Today, East Point Lodge No. 288 meets at the Peachtree City Masonic Center in Peachtree City, Georgia, where it continues the traditions established by the brethren who came before. The lodge remains active in charitable endeavors, community service, Masonic education, and the preservation of the timeless values of Freemasonry.

More than a century after its founding, East Point Lodge No. 288 continues to serve as a place where good men gather in friendship, support one another in times of need, and strive to improve themselves and their communities through the teachings of the Ancient Craft.
